Have you ever felt that there are many things that you should express to someone close to you? At that moment you are waiting for the right time and time goes and you always regret it later. What stops us from expressing ourselves in front of people we have to say so much is never opened up. It may be with our parents, siblings, friends, boss, or anyone close to working with.
I am not the right person to give tips to as I am also faced with plenty of issues and always struggle with them, so I will present my opinion and explain how vital it is to express ourselves.
Express Your Feelings: Don’t Be Shy
One of the reasons I can think of is we always fear reactions, fear of rejection, or people misunderstanding us. However, holding your emotions is more harmful for you. This creates issues in relationships, work environments, or social settings, expressing your feelings is a vital part of mental well-being and personal growth.
The first and foremost point is whether we are accepting ourselves as we are or we continuously judging ourselves with others eyes. Acknowledge your feelings in positive ways and feel yourself as complete. As a cultural part, we always have opinions about men or women like men should not cry, men should be tough. But the question is why not? What happens if a man is feeling down emotionally? Why should man not express his sadness in the presence of others? Why does he have to keep all his emotions inside? Same way, women in remote areas cannot express themselves just because narrow-minded people cannot accept them. Sometimes we are never able to tell our parents or children how much we love them. We are always busy in daily routines and never express, what they mean to us. Some people are keeping the highest position in life but we never tell them and sometimes we never get a chance to tell them. We keep our thoughts and people leave the world with telling.
Don’t stop yourself, go and tell them how much you love them, what positive things you like, and what changes you suggest make them improve. I never expressed my feelings to my father as he was short-tempered, I always looked for the right time to discuss my wishes with life and to tell them what they meant to me. But now, he is no more and he will not come back to listen to me. Hence, the right time will never come. You have to make the time right to express yourself.
Why We Shy Away From Expressing Ourselves

- Misunderstanding Our Own Emotions: Sometimes, we don’t express our feelings simply because we don’t fully understand them. If we haven’t taken the time to reflect on what we’re feeling, how can we communicate that to others?
